1st Grade
First real team. Learning to love the work.
What they work on
- Dribbling with either hand without looking down
- Passing to a teammate who is open, not the one you like most
- Listening in a huddle and doing the thing you were asked
The Program
We field teams from 1st through 4th grade. Every summer these teams move up a grade together, and a new group joins at the bottom — so a player who starts with us can stay with us.
Your child doesn't age out of a group each year. The kids who start together in 1st grade move up together — same teammates, same coaches, year after year.
Practices teach something specific. Every player gets coached, and every player gets real minutes — we keep rosters small so nobody spends the afternoon on a bench.
Local tournaments first, and further afield as a group is ready. Our teams have played everywhere from Long Island gyms to the floor at Barclays Center.

First real team. Learning to love the work.

Spacing, defence, and the first real games.

Reading the floor instead of reacting to it.

Real competition, and leading a group through it.
That's the most common question we get, and there's no wrong answer. Tell us their grade and roughly what they've played before — rec, travel, or nothing at all — and we'll point you to the right group.
Plenty of kids start with training and join a team later. Plenty start having never played. Both are fine.
